**Meibomian Gland Dysfunction: Causes, Symptoms, and Effective Management**

Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is a common eye condition that affects the tiny oil glands located along the edges of the eyelids. These glands, known as meibomian glands, play a crucial role in maintaining healthy vision by producing oils that prevent the rapid evaporation of tears. When these glands become blocked or do not function properly, it can lead to dry, irritated eyes and discomfort.

### What Causes Meibomian Gland Dysfunction?

MGD develops when the meibomian glands become clogged or their oil secretion becomes abnormal. Several factors contribute to this condition, including aging, hormonal changes, prolonged screen use, and environmental conditions such as dry or dusty air. People who wear contact lenses or frequently use eye makeup may also be at a higher risk. Additionally, underlying conditions like Blepharitis can worsen gland blockage and inflammation.
